It's a slow starter that in the beginning can feel a little heavy handed about the emotional consequences of gambling on the lives of the various protagonists in this multi-plot film. However, to follow a cookie-cutter big up / big down character structure wouldn't be believable in the world of gambling addiction. Within this desperate world, Even Money finds ups and downs as it tests its characters and drives towards its ultimate question: what would any of us risk to get a little more than we can reach? |
