For anyone who don't know this already, The Departed is a remake of a Hong Kong box office hit "Infernal Affair" which starred Andy Lau and Tony Leung. If you haven't watch the original movie, then you might be able to enjoy the departed a lil more. but for someone who has already watch "Infernal Affair", all i'm feeling is a disappointment. Eventhough The Departed have an all-stars cast, it wasn't just not good enough of a remake. I went in with an open mind, because after watching so many American remake of Japanses horrors like "Ring I and II", "The Grudge" I honestly feel that sometime American remakes are better than the original Asian movies. However, this movie try to put all 3 "Infernal Affair" trilogy into one movie. IMPOSSIBLE! it lacks storyline, lacks character development. that's why the Hong Kong have 3 movies instead of one. Both Leonardo Dicarpio and Matt Damon were no match for Andy Lau and Tony Leung as far as the roles and character development goes. If anyone who really want to know the true story, telling in details with some of the best actors...GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL! Even if you have to read the english subtitle, it is worth it!
