I was a big fan of the book. I studied the 9 Insights, and finally made my pilgrimage to Peru.
Seeing this movie for me was a big event. I attended it with my boyfriend, who had not read the book. He thought it was very inspiring.
The movie suffers awkward transitions.
I admit that there were some hokey special effects, especially when all the group reaches the 9th Insight and sees heaven. The acting was pretty well-done, especially Matthew Settle's portrayal of John Woodson, the young man who is pulled out of his aimless life and into a mystery.
I wanted to like this film, and had I not been so influenced by the book, I probably would not have rated it so highly. |
