Chaos must be what fills the mind of Tony Giglio.

Writing a screenplay and directing a movie are two very difficult things. Doing both at the same time even more so. And when someone tries to do both, and fails miserably at both, the result is a very bad movie indeed.

Enter Chaos.

I went to see this movie with a friend, and expected to see a no-brainer action movie. Instead I got an action movie that tries very hard to have a brain, but fails miserably. Mister Giglio apparently thought it adding obscure and mostly irrelevant chaos theory references to the film would give it 'depth', but unfortunately for him, all 'twists' are so clihéd and blindingly obvious that the plot is revealed to be as deep as a pizza plate. It also doesn't help that Giglio often prolongs certain shots in such a way that he might as well have put blinking arrows on-screen to point to the clues. Don't worry if you miss any of them though, because Giglio obligingly adds a gazillion flashbacks to make sure everybody understands his 'difficult' plot.

Alright, so the plot is terrible. But it's an action movie, right? What about the action? Well, that's a very good question. The movie has some explosions and the obligatory vehicle chase scene, but that's about it. The rest of the movie is filled with 'plot', cop movie clichés, and corny one-liners that even Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't say with a straight face.
Wait, there's a small bit of hand-to-hand combat in the movie too, but I think that's only there because Wesley Snipes seems to have a clause in his contracts, which forces directors to put a bit of martial arts in any movie in which he plays. Oh well, at least the man knows what his strengths are.

Which brings me to the next point. Acting. Wesley Snipes can play a good bad guy (Demolition Man comes to mind), but in this movie he can't even try to act cool with his crummy dialogue.
Jason Stratham, who I usually quite like, seems to to spend the movie trying to be Bruce Willis, and trying to adopt an American accent.
Ryan Phillipe is...well...Ryan Philippe. He's there, and that about sums it up.
A special mention should go out to the girl who plays one of the thugs' girlfriends. Her interrogation scene is hands-down the worst piece of acting I've seen in years, so I'd like to thank her for the laughs.

Finally, the score. It started out decent, but becomes as clichéd as the rest of the movie later on. I honestly believe that there's even a rehash of the Jaws theme as two characters prowl eachother near the end, but that could just have been my mind trying to get some enjoyment out of the movie.

Long story short, I really, really advise you to steer clear of this movie. Both action fans and fans of a good plot will come out with a feeling that their time would have been better spent alphabetizing their sock collection.
