As a great fan of Toni Collette, I have awaited this and Little Miss Sunshine. (But since that is in limited release right now, I went to see this, plus Armistead Maupin is usually such a good story teller). The movie is very well acted, and I would recommend anyone who is a fan of Robin Williams or Toni Collette to check this out.
True, some things are left unresolved, but it is based on a true story in which mysteries remained, but life has a tendency not to leave things tied up in neat little packets.
Lastly, there have been some uncalled for nasty anti-homophobic reviews from people who probably haven't even seen the movie. The gay relationship in the movie is not the least bit salacious and the only thing you see is a chaste kiss, from the back of Robin Williams' head.
But to give some people the benefit of the doubt, if you enjoy Old County Buffet, shop regularly at Wal-Mart, think NASCAR is real, or live in a trailer park, you WON'T like this film. |
