The movie started off with a bang and end with a wimper.
The movie is a fantasy, but for some reason it had to bring in some reality. The reality killed the feeling of the movie. Mr.Magorium was a wonderful light-hearted being, who was 243 years old and ran a magicial toy store. He decides he wants to move on, and he wants to give his store, to his store manager that believes in the magic of the store, but doesn't believe in herself. So, when the transition take place he doesn't disappear but just dies, and they have a funeral for him which doesn't fit the movie at all. BOO On top of that the store turns into a tomb, because the store manager doesn't believe in herself. BOO The only wonderful character beside Mr. Magorium is the little boy. He is a unique kid that doesn't get along with other kids,(how many of you can relate to this kind of kid) but he is a lot more mature and adult like than the adults around him. He wanted to buy the store himself, but of course he can't have it. He would have been a better keeper for the store then the store manager. He knew the soul of the store. In the end, I mean the last 5 minutes the store manager gets it and magicially brings the store to life. It was really lame.
This movie started to remind me of the wimisical movies like "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and the original "Doctor Dolittle," but instead it turn into blah. |
