An INSULT

Wow, where do you start? First off, the story has elements of Resident Evil, for one the actress, two the virus which is like a vampire slash sickenss type(who knows cause they dont explain it) the virus is called the HGG virus. Third, the whole evil type government corporate entity with the soldiers dressed in all black armor,etc etc you know what Im saying a lot of it is ripped off.
Here is my review.
Strike one, is the PG-13 rating, I mean come on, the star is a sword swinging super chick right? So, you could only imagine how mad I got when I saw the fight scenes and there was ABSOLUTELY NO GORE, it was weak and dissappointing. The fight scenes in themselves sucked, I heard Jovovich say in an interview that she trained for 6 months, bla bla, no way the fight scenes seemed like they came out of the Power Rangers, they were poorly edited and redudant, I swear she killed like 100 of those black armor guards, and she did it all the same way. The fight scenes were editing poorly too because I think the producers knew they sucked so they were edited with this like quick techno type feel, where there was nothing new or original, or violent going on it was just crap.
The visuals at first were sleek, if you ever saw Minority Report with Tom Cruise they were like that but with a low budget, there was a lot of CGI, and it mostly sucked especially the chase scenes, they were just predominantly CGI and just looked unispired. And again nothing original, at one point she drives her motorcycle on the side of a building it looks fake and they dont explain how she does that.
The acting sucked, it just proves that the story and the production make the movie, and not the actors. Jovovich has a lot of cred with Resident Evils, but this movie proves that she can't carry a movie on her back. The other actors are nobodies, and they all pretty much sucked, and thats because the story sucked.
The story which is most important ofcourse, is unexplained, predictable, and plagarized(Resident Evil). There are just so many parts that are unexplained in the details, like what the virus actually does. The characters are poorly developed, you just don't connect with them, there is just no feel its plain jane times 10.
Finally, this movie was a major dissappointment and a waste of money. The whole feel of the movie is just haphazard and by the middle you feel like this is an insult to you, especially if you are a fan of Resident Evil, Blade, or any Sci-Fi type action movie. It just doesn't deliver on any level, not on the story, not on the acting, not on the stunts, not on the visuals, and not on the violence. It was Ultra PG-13, and it sucked. |
