Missing the point

Nobody talks about the cultural dimension here. The whole movie is about how the idea of "beauty" is different in different cultures. In Nigeria, and other parts of Africa, larger women are looked at positively. The movie doesn't say "fat is good" or anything else like it. It is telling people to except who they are whether or not they fit the stereotyped image of "beauty" in their culture since that image is totally culture-dependent and is not the "truth" about beauty.

That said, I do agree with some of the reviews about the double standard. The women are shown always lusting after slender, muscular men. Her dreams are always of male-model types chasing her. So it shows the same superficial vision of attractiveness that the movie is supposed to be rebelling against.
