I LOVED this film! The story, the acting, the directing and the comedy were all really refreshing. With all the crap out there Hollywood is serving us, this movie, despite the lack of special effects and fancy cinematography is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! It is the comedic, painful and ultimately inspiring journey of a plus size woman struggling to not just survive - but thrive in a minus sized world. It is fresh, daring, and most of all REAL. I saw a sneak preview and Mo'Nique is in rare form. Still her funny self, she shows she can also go really deep, and some of the scenes do. And her love interest in the movie is just GORGEOUS! If for no other reason, go see this movie to get a glimpse at him. He is a wonderful piece of eye candy. But the best part about this comedy is you do not have to be a plus size woman to love this movie. It is for everyone who ever felt insecure about anything and for all people who are looking for the ultimate underdog story. This movie by a first time, African American female director is a definite MUST-SEE for all. It will totally change your thinking. |
