Originally I was going to see Darjeeling Limited this Friday (It's a really good film that I recommend to everyone), but then I came across the trailer online for Martian Child. I was totally captivated by the well-edited trailer and sent it to my sisters to set up a date to see it. As time went by though, I wasn't so sure I wanted to see it anymore though. I love off-beat films but this one seemed like it was pushing the bill with its quirks. Boy was I wrong though!
I just saw the movie and I coudn't stop grinning from ear to ear after it ended. You know you've seen a good film when it takes you so, so very high after it that you come crashing down from your wondrous cloud the moment you drive away from the theatre. Suffice it to say, I've drunken four cups of coffee and I still can barely type this review-I've crashed that hard. But don't let this stop you from seeing the movie. It's like a happy drug with it's so-sweet moments, you feel a toothache coming on just from watching it.
Dennis and David? Oh my god. Can you spell adorably realistic chemistry? You might have some trouble, but I sure can! These two were great together and that kid, Bobby Coleman, I think it was- He's fantastic. I'm sure he's going to build a huge database of fans soon because he's truly an already superior actor. He and John Cusack were amazing in this film. John did an especially good job acting in this movie (really, when does he not though?). He's wonderful as a troubled father, which seems to be his chosen character for his most recent films. See him in every single one; you won't be disappointed in the acting.
All around outstanding film. I urge you to check it out soon. |
