The trite central story-line is not aided by the wooden mediocrity of the lead actors, but a brilliant quasi-documentary cinematographic style vividly evokes an important segment of 20th century history that many have forgotten (or never knew in the first place). Ian Holm shines in the small role of David Ben-Gurion.
