The man is crazy. Maybe. But the guy knows how to pick good roles. He's been doing it since the eighties.Rain Man, Risky Business, Top Gun, Jerry McGuire etc.
There are actors with more talent than Cruise. But this guy has something they don't. He knows how to spot GOOD WRITING. That is a gift most studio execs should but do not have.
On that point, I gave MI3 a chance. I liked the first one also. This is a good movie period. If you decide to actually follow the story and characters (not the actors) you will be very satisfied.
We all know the hero will win in action films. The fun part is seeing how they will win. And I was given chases, reverses, and a good reason why surround sound should exist.
If you want dumb down easy to follow pop corn films. The master is James Cameron. But Cameron is a billionaire now so I'm just happy the story was coherent. |
