Me and my 14 year old were standing in front of the theater trying to figure out what to see and decided on this one only because "Fun With Dick and Jane" didn't start for an extra hour (wait). We didn't really know what Nanny McPhee was about and never heard of it before. But after the movie we both said how great it was and what a good surprise to have found it.
THE MOVIE is NOT Mary Poppins and I'm confused at the comparison refrerences. I thought Emma Thompson and Nanny McPhee character is one that can continue to live in future movies or sequels. The kids in the movie were pretty good and thought they held their own. Kelly Macdonald as Evangeline in a Cinderella role was good as well. I thought Angela Lansbury was dead, so being a Murder, She Wrote fan it was nice to see her have a big screen role. She did good even though there were a few flaws with her character in the film. Wasn't impressed with Celia Imrie as Selma Quickly. |
