I am disappointed at some of the reviews on this site, but I guess, to each his/her own. What bothers me is that most people who have reviewed this badly, likely haven't even seen the film to begin with.
Beowulf, from what I remember from reading it long ago, was pretty similar to what I saw in the film. It was a good effort by the filmmakers and shows that motion capture has a chance in Hollywood.
The visuals and camera placement are all things that couldn't have been achieved if this had been live action, this proves that this new technology can make film making a richer experience.
Granted its not a perfect film, but it was pretty entertaining none the less. The PG-13, like Titanic before it, was a very strong PG-13 rating. I have no problems with ratings, I'm just mentioning the facts. Good voice acting across the board, as well as fairly good casting. It took me awhile to realize that it was Anthony Hopkins I was hearing and seeing.
3.7 stars out of 4. Memorable, not perfect, and still pretty entertaining. Give it a chance. |
