I found this version to be engaging maybe moreso than the 2005 movie which I also thought was excellent. The back and forth between the New York social scene and the Kansas drama seemed a lot more realistic and therefore entertaining. The audience was obviously enjoying this film. I thought the portrayal of the main star was what was probably very true to life. The relationship between Truman and killer Perry Smith was emotionally connected mostly due to the well honed dramatic skills of Mr. Craig. As bleak and tragic as the 05 film, but with just a spark of something extra, or should I say different? |
