The Lake House stars Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves as two people who begin a romantic relationship, even though they live two years apart. How is this possible? I dunno. Did I think about unprobable it was, and how very little of it made any sense? Yes, but only for a little while, until I realized that the less I thought about it, the more I enjoyed it.
Sandra Bullock plays Kate Forster. A lonely doctor who has moved out of her house on the lake. On the day of her departure she leaves a note in the mailbox for the next tennant, telling them to forward her mail, if they get any. Alex, Keanu Reeves, recieves the letter. He is confused. The Lake House has been empty for a long time. There are paw prints on the deck, she mentions in the letter, but there are none as far as he can see. After a few more letters are echnaged they learn that they are two years apart, and slowly they begin to fall in love. That is the story in a nut-shell.
I found the premise of this movie to be very original, and I really liked the stuff that they did with the script. They do many creative things, intertwining the Alex's time with Kate time. She tells him where she was in 2004, on what day. He goes there and sees her, as she was in 2004. There are other interesting coincidences and meetings like this, and I thought they were fascinating to watch.
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock give wonderful performances, and they display perfectly, the love, pain and lonliness that their characters go through. They have wonderful chemistry (in the two scenes that they share together) and both are delightful to watch.
The Lake House is a very sweet and sincere love story. I didn't expect that I would like this movie, but I really did. The story was very involving, and maybe a bit predictable, and I really cared for these two people. If you are a fan or romance movies, then I suppose The Lake House is a must-see for you. And if your not, then I can almost guarantee that you will be pleasantly surprised, and you may actually enjoy yourself.
The Lake House is actually a good movie. It's very sweet and heartfelt, and funny at times. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are a wonderful duo to watch onscreen, and the story is original and engrossing. The Lake House is a delightful romance story, and I'm pretty sure that everyone will enjoy it, as long as you don't think about it too much.
