Great Movie,CONFUSING. IF YOU DIDNT GET READthis!

PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THIS, AND DIDNT GET IT LOOK HERE.but people who havent DONT. IM SAYING SOME THINGS ABOUT THE MOVIE!
Disclaimer: this is only my opinion and I respect that fact that other fans have their own views and explanations. I am posting this as many of my friends who are in this group asked my opinion and it more time effective to post once in a thread for discussion instead of messaging many, many people the same thing. Also, I did not go into the theatre thinking this was a remake of the first SH game. I went in expecting the movie to be loosely based on SH folklore with emphasis on SH1. I was not disappointed.
Overall, I loved this movie! I am going a third time today with different friends as they couldn't make it last night. Besides, I can see this movie over and over I like it so much.
*SPOILER ALERT*
The version of SH that Rose and Sharon entered was Alyssa's version of SH.
Rose sinned during the course of the movie. She assisted Alyssa with revenge. Therefore, she belongs in SH just as the other sinners were stuck in SH for all eternity. Rose also died too remember? She was stabbed towards the end of the movie! Yeah, it healed while she was in SH - in SH people think about it. The version of SH that Rose and Sharon entered was Alyssa's version of SH, therefore Alyssa healed Rose's stab wound, but could only heal it in her dimension of SH, not in reality. Therefore, Rose died in reality but lived in Alyssa's version of SH. Whew! And, SH turned into a hellish dimension when PH came along to seek revenge on the true sinners for Alyssa. PH was Alyssas and Dahlias bitch. Remember when Dahlia did the witch sign with her fingers outside the church to Anna and PH popped up and took care of Anna skin problem? Hence the Alyssas two versions of SH.
Once Alyssa got her revenge (killer Boss scene at the end of the movie) there was no more hell dimension - just a purgatory type dimension (the foggy SH). Alyssa, made SH a hell for everyone due to her anger and loneliness (remember the hospital scene where Alyssa split into two? The good side of Alyssa and the vengeful side of Alyssa?), so once she got her revenge her anger subsided and the hell went away (along with her manifestation of PH), and the two sides of Alyssa became one again.
Dahlia & Rose were not subject to Alyssas revenge since they were her mothers (biological and adopted) and as was said in the movie, A mother is God in the eyes of a child. Therefore the two mothers were exempt from Alyssas revenge. Dahlia, Rose and Alyssa/Sharon were all dead at the end of the movie and they were also sinners: Alyssa/Sharon and Rose committed acts of revenge and Dahlia had a child out of wedlock whom she allowed to be taken from her for punishment) so they remained in the foggy purgatory type SH. The dead can't come back to life (reality - Roses husbands world), so they remain in SH.
This movie does not deal with Christianity or Catholicism or any other specific religion as we know it. The religion in the movie was made up by the Elders of the Elders - The Order, and it was a religion that brought death. So, there is no heaven and hell as Christians, Catholics, etc. know it. Religion is different in SH so think outside of the religious box when analyzing this movie. It works within the mythology of SH, not Anytown U.S.A.
As far as Roses husbands version of SH, he was not a sinner by SH standards, and did not enter SH with Sharon and was not a mother type figure therefore was not subject to the same SH that Rose was. And, Officer Gucci was a descendent of one of the people (his father) who tried to help Alyssa after she was burned alive; therefore he was not subject to Alyssas revenge either therefore never entered the foggy or hellish side of SH.
Wow, that was a bit confusing, but I hope you at least understand the three dimensions of SH.
1) Reality - Roses husbands and Officer Guccis version of SH.
2) The foggy purgatory version of SH
3) The hellish Pyramid Head dimension of SH.
Anyway, that is my take on the movie. I am not saying it is the correct one, it is just my point of view and how I interpreted the storyline. I am open to others opinions, as this movie and the history of SH is complex and can have different meanings for different fans. |
