as an avid fan of the books, i can't tell you how excited i was to watch this movie, so i watched the sneak preview a week before it came out. i had high expectations, and they were met, for the most part.
overall, acting was superb. dakota blue richards is one of those girls where you either hate her or love her, but i thought she was quite good. visuals were stunning, direction was pretty good too.
the main problem i had with the movie was with the story. of course, i realize that things had to be cut for the movie version, and they rearranged certain things and cut certain characters out, but it all blended smoothly. (although certain characters were left out who appear in the later books, so i wonder how they'll sort that out in the later movies).
the only thing i hated about this movie was the ending! they cut it off at such a horrible place! the movie isn't even that long, so i don't see why they had to cut it! on top of that, i know they filmed the very last scenes of the book, because i saw the scenes in the trailer. why they cut it i don't know!
i guess to sum it all up, this movie is FANTASTIC, but it's so irritating because it could've been made so much better. Fans of the book will probably hate the ending, but i expect that people who have never seen it will thoroughly enjoy the movie. :)
