I just wanted to throw my 2 dollars and 50 cents worth into the ring concerning this movie. I don't go to movies often. Mostly because many flicks are just too corny, un-intelligent, exploitive or predictable for me to enjoy. But this movie?
This movie strummed the strings of my heart like a veteran concert violinist. It has a very predictable story line, yes. But the message this movie delivers goes far beyond a typical.."lets all cheer for the poor, little, black girl to triumph over adversity" bru-ha-ha.
This movie is a forgotten principle or lesson to everyone that ever had a hope or a dream and saw it either buried or dashed due to life's intruding adversities. This movie was written to re-awaken those whose dreams are regrettably deferred.
I really think the plot will do more to revitalize or stir awake the slumbering goals of we adults who have forgotten that living isn't just about working a job and paying bills. The enjoyment of life is really about striving towards a defined goal or a desire. Whatever that hope and desire may be.
It also helps one to face the fears within and without that psychologically cripple us and keep us from pursuing dreams. And for the children, it allows them to see that you can have a dream...but wishing doesn't make it come to pass. HARD work along with self discipline, faith in God and ones-self does.
Bottom line...go see it and don't go alone. Take your kids...or someone elses. This is a each one, help one movie through and though. The integrity of it begs for the "good" in us to share it's message of hope. |
