Like many, I am a huge fan of the first two Shrek movies. I had been anticipating this third intallment for months. Sadly, I was greatly disappointed. This one was utterly forgetable, with the most memorable moments showcased in the preview. It lacked the panache, wit, and steady comedic timing that filled the previous Shrek films. The pacing was quite slow and included too many extraneous characters. I expected to see the focus of the movie be Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss. Afterall, these are the core characters of franchise that so many of us fell in love with. Unfortunately, more time was spent on Arthur and Charming. I agree with the critic whose synopsis was that the movie was "stale". I wish I could say that my sentiments regarding the film are an anomaly, but that seemed to be the consensus of the others at the theatre (very few laughs, no clapping, no one discussing its great points after the movie). I truly hope you enjoy the movie more than I did though! |
