Not a movie for everyone

First, this is a very, very dark demented movie. I don't think I seen a movie so completely rated R in a long time. This movie is over the top demented, from a Russian who covets John Wayne, to a couple that enjoys the company of children a little too much, and top it off with a white "MAC DADDY PIMP". While that sounds like a ludricous plot, what saves the movie is the dark direction this story goes. There is a no frills violence that is gruesome that shows the blood, sweat, tears of it. This movie takes no prisoners and brings you along for the ride, interestingly from a perspective of a kid. Through the violence of gangs to the corrupt cops, there's no one decent left by the end. What brings it all together is a fairly comprehensive script that touches every character and rewards the active viewer. Finally, a good director who is not afraid to break the rules. He brings images to the screen that you don't see everyday, and make the film visually appealing. It makes it a story worth seeing if you find your mind interested in what I said above. In the end will this movie make money? No probably not, the viewpoints are so dark where very few people's minds tread. However, it is still definitely worth seeing, but very few will.
The pros:
- The direct violence, no excuses just violence as it should be portrayed.
- The acting was suprignly good, the young actors especially pulled performances woth noting.
- The direction, keep an eye out for the light stripper morphing into a real one.
The cons:
- The child molester plot, while demented and crazy really didn't fill any role in the movie's main plotline, and ends up being unnecesary.
- Camera is a little too fluid sometimes, the visuals actually hamper some of the shots.
- The story suffers from the overused plot of showing you the end at the beginning of the movie. |
