Here's a movie without much substance...heck, hardly ANY substance, that is able to sustain the viewers interest for the entire 90 minutes or so...a heck of a feat for a girl who posed for "shock shots", in leather-bondage gear, and various other states of dress and un-dress during her reign as Pinup Girl of the Universe. Here's the truth of the matter, folks. Bettie Paige (played just dandyfine by Gretchen Mal) wasn't very a interesting person...pretty, sexy, and a vixen to boot, yes, just not all that interesting. So what we see are a series of photo shoots of Bettie, naked sometimes, and quite cheeky at ****.com with various courtroom lunacy--1950's style!--declaring that her pictures drive men to lasciviousness and suicide..whatever. This is a simple, vapid film about a girl who has become an icon to urban artistic villages all over America. Take it or leave it. I rather enjoyed it myself. Oh my God...does that mean I'm going straight to hell in a handbasket? |
