It seemed like an odd Hollywood decision to have French filmmaker Alexandre Aja (HAUTE TENSION) take a stab at an American horror classic, however, he steps up to the plate and delivers what is sure to become a horror classic in itself.
A nice touch was to keep most of the original dialogue and to keep many of the original action sequences in tact. What the director adds is this unbearable sense of dread throughout the entire film. Every frame oozes with tension from start to finish. In addition, the old-school western scene in which a father searches for his abducted baby in a ghost town has to be the most intense, bloodiest, and violent sequence ever to grace a mainstream Hollywood film to date.
A must for horror fans. |
