This film, when I saw the trailer, seemed to have a very good premis and had the makings of shaping up to be a well done remake. I have been wrong in many cases that I feel this way and I am once again, sadly to say, dissapointed once again. The film moved slow from the very beginning and had no dialogue to support it. I also felt that the acting was a little off concidering the toneality of the film. It took at least 30-40 minutes to get our first bit of action. The film does not display anything we havent seen before, even though it is a remake, we seem to see the same situations and same reaction within every known Horror movie to come out within the past few years.
I will say however that, once the action got started, it kept up with that pace throughout. The violence got more and more gruesome and horrifying.
**SPOILERS**
There were a couple scenes that had me jump back a couple of times, and had moment that was a little freaky. Such as the scene where the father of the strayed family goes back to the gas station and finds the owne crying and whimpering. Instantly he took the shotgun he had and placed it beneath his chin to blow his head completely off. After that there were voices coming from all around in the silence of the night saying "Daddy.....". There was also the scene of the same father tied to a post that was set ablaze to have his family watch him burn in misery. The film does have some good scene's that will make you jump and keep you freaked out, but for the most part the film was very predictable. Also as a side note I never saw a film where the family dog got just as many kills as the humans have. WAY TO GO BEAST!
If your looking for a gruesome film to watch that has the ability to freak you out a little bit you may enjoy this. Otherwise, its just another horror movie we see time and time again. |
