It's good FOR A HORROR MOVIE

Okay, I read some of the user reviews before going to see this. Some people walked out and said it was too graphic and the rape scene bothered them. Other people think it's a classic horror film.
What I don't understand is how people go to a horror movie and walk out? What did you think it was.......an animated movie about a Hill with eyes? It's a horror movie. It's suppose to be scary as hell and graphically violent.
All I can say is........if you went thinking it wasn't a horror movie, then shame on you. Your an idiot.
Now back to the movie: It was scary, gruesome, violent, and disturbing. It was a horror movie, imagine that.
Let me clarify this "supposed" rape scene. I never saw any nudity in the entire movie. I didn't see anyone get "raped" in the sense of actual sex happening. I saw a freak putting his hands on a teenage girl cause he thought she was sexy.....but I never actually saw him "rape" her. It was more like he was maybe groping her, but I really didn't see that either. I don't know........I don't condone "rape" but it wasn't anything near that. It was these mutant freaks in an Airstream camper alone with a teenage girl putting their hands occasionaly on her and slapping her around.........no sex. I just had to get that out of the way because I read alot about this horrific rape scene and I never saw anything like what some people are describing on here.
The violence is EXTREMELY GRAPHIC. For instance, the movie starts with some guys in white radiation suits collecting samples of the ground and water and they get attacked by somebody. All you see is them getting nailed with a pickaxe and flung around violently. Another man decides to kill himself in an outhouse by blowing his head off with a shotgun and they show every bit of that......pretty gross actually. The scene in the Airstream is very violent where the teenager gets slapped around and then her sister comes in and tries to save her baby.......and the freak points a gun at the baby and forces the sister to let him lick her cleavage.......woo-hoo......but there wasn't any nudity, it was just uncomfortable.......and finally that sister gets shot in the head in graphic detail. The mother comes in and gets blown away too. Also there are many scenes where the freaks are eating pieces of humans or animals. Another freak grabs a pet bird out of a cage and bites it's head off and then squirts blood in his mouth. And finally, when the victims finally have had enough they take turns slamming a pick axe into different freaks heads.
So you've been warned. It is graphic. Also the father gets burned at the stake, but I didn't think it was as bad as some of the other stuff.
But it's a horror movie and as usual, characters do stupid things in the movie, but that's how these stories work.
Great movie? Not on your life. Good horror movie? Yeah, it was okay. It had the mutant freaks in it which made it even more interesting to see what each of them looked like.
If you like horror and can take graphic violence, go see it. I liked it better than Hostel. |
