This is definately not a film you want to bring only half of your attention to.. it demands 100% in order for you to fully understand and appreciate it. I still have mixed feelings about it. There were parts that were absolutely brilliant and thought provoking, then others that were long, boring, drawn-out and just kind of left you sitting there going "so what?".
The manor and colors that were used to shoot this film are beautiful. It gives the feeling that you're actually sitting in that time frame. The acting from Matt Damon was a bit above average, but John Turturro blew me away. He was fantastic.. a far different role from "the Jesus".
All in all, I think for the right type of audience, this film is great. If you're looking for a mental work out, come see it! But if you're looking for action and suspense, you'll be disappointed.. just wait for it to come out on DVD. |
