I really liked The Gathering. It is very focused around Jesus' crucifixion and the witnesses of the event. Though it is really religious, it is also very creepy and the plot twists like crazy. The opening sequence could be better; it gives it a sloppy teenage underground alien feel or something, but it's not like that at all.
After you stick through the first fifteen, the movie starts heating up and doesn't stop. It is full of audience revelations and you'll be gasping if alone, and constantly pointing clues and things out to the people you are watching the movie with. If you are in the movie store and unsure what to rent, rent this! Very entertaining and you won't feel like you've wasted time. Well worth it, and gives a great message that you always get a chance to redeem yourself, if you can just find it.
If you have children, its safe to let say mature 11 year olds and up watch. There is a bit of gore through the form of gunshot wounds but the worst of it is at the very beginning and very end. I really liked this movie and I wish I could give it a better grade because it was so good!
