Right off the bat this movie showed that it would not stand up to the book. In high hopes that maybe it might still be decent I sat through the whole midnight showing, I shouldn't have. Rather you have read this book or not you will not enjoy the movie. The acting was horrific. The actor who played the part of Galbitorix was one of the worst actors that I have ever seen, it seemed like he was reading his lines off of a cue card. The story line was alright, but only because I had read the book and new what was SUPPOSE to be going on. The visuals for the dragon weren't great, but they could have been worse. If you have read this book then don't bother going to see the movie, it's better to keep it all in your imagination. If you have not read this book then don't bother going to see it, it jumps around too much for you to be able to understand it very well. The characters have no meat too them. The development doesn't exist, they didn't even try to have any. Had it been atleast similar to the book then it would have been a rocking movie, but the directors obviously read only the back cover of this book and didn't bother glancing at anything else. In most cases of mediocer or even bad movies I would suggest waiting until you can rent it on DVD, but in the case of Eragon, I wouldn't even spend my money on that. My suggestion is that if you really want to see it that bad then wait a couple of months and see it on HBO or STARS, it was so bad that I don't doubt that it will be on there soon. |
