I saw a preview for this recently and thought "Oh, wow, this looks like a decent sci-fi movie. I think I should go see it", and so I did.
So not worth the $6.50
The basic plot of the story is that for the first time in 27 years a woman is pregnant. Why all women are infertile as well as why this girl is special is never explained, and this irked me a little. Nothing major, I soon got over it. The world has also been thrown into total chaos (also never explained) and all illegal immigrants are caged, beaten, killed, etc. I went in thinking that this movie would have a decent sci-fi storyline, but all it turned out to be people getting killed and shot at for two hours. However, the combat scenes were very well done and memorable.
At the end of the movie, I noticed that it was directed by Alfonso Cuaron, the same guy who directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The ending briefly reminded me of the ending to POA. It sucked.
This film would've been much better without the gratuitous violence. I understand that some is necessary, but all the death scenes in this movie probably weren't necessary. |
