Some people just don't get it...

After reading several bad reviews about this film, I decided to create an account just to post a review of my own. It seems most people are upset because none of the pre-story is explained. This is not a film about women being infertile, nor is about why people have decided to hate each other because of it. "Why are women infertile?" Well, perhaps the fact that they are is far more important as to why. I think in the film it is implied that no one knows. Even if they did explain, people would probably have a problem with how this could happen. Explaining this would just be an extraneous part of the film and, besides, use your imagination. A lot of people just don't recognize that this a critical part of the plot (and yes, there is a good one) that also has more significant meaning (perhaps in the title, or elsewhere?) beyond how it came to be. I just can't believe how people refuse to think about what is going on in this movie. For instance, I think one of the points is that in the future, when everything has gone wrong, people are still acting as they might today in a similar situation...pursecuting others for the sake of self-preservation when there's really nothing left to preserve. There are several layers and meanings to this film. As for the direction...it's amazing. There's one scene near the end that's done in one take (7 minutes I think). That's insane. The amount of vision, preparation, rehearsing and so forth that goes into to a 7 minute action take is incredible. The amount of detail and reality throughout the film is also amazing. If you see this film, don't ask yourself why nothing is explained...that's not important; what's happening in the film is. This movie has a lot to say, but it's still enthralling and entertaining through the finish. |
