I PREDICTED THE "TWIST" TEN MINUTES INTO THIS FILM

Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston play Charles and Lucinda, two yuppies married to other people, who meet by happenstance during their daily commute into Chicago. Flirtation turns into a fling which is then abruptly intercepted by a psychopath who wants to torment them and extort lots of money from Charles.
Anyone who has seen some Hitchcock-style thrillers has seen versions of the much-talked-about twist before. The only difference is Hitchcock, or any of his worthy suceessors, would not have put his seal on a story with so many inplausible gaping holes in the story line.
Was this Jennifer's moment to shine as an actress, as the press would have us believe? I've seen her better, most notably, her subdued performance in "The Good Girl".
"Derailed" is one film which definately can be deferred until it comes out on DVD. And don't worry, it won't take long. |
