I think this movie robbed me of 2 hours and 20 minutes of my life that I will never get back! At one point it got so absolutely disguisting that I turned to my friend and asked if we should leave. My biggest mistake was not leaving right at that point, for it only went downhill.
The characters are totally unbelievable, well except for Augusten. I felt so badly for this child/teenager that I just wanted to hug and take him (to a normal) home. The doctor was insane and should never been allowed to treat anyone much less be outpatient from a mental institution . His wife was a tortured soul who sadly loved this nutcase.
The only aspect I could possibly see for making this movie would be to show that through the insanity and disturbing childhood life experience of poor Augusten he never lost his resilience. Which every human spirit needs to exist.
I can't believe anyone would clap after viewing this movie (as one critic has written here) much less walk out with an uplifted sense of oneself. |
