This movie was disgusting, obscene, stupid, gross, filthy, rude...and I laughed all the way through it.
From the opening rock-opera sequence with none other than the inimitable Meat Loaf (and a preteen who looks and acts amazingly like the full grown Jack Black), to the ridiculous sasquatch scene, to the Devil Went Down to Georgia-esque rock battle...this movie goes over-the-top to make you cheer and laugh.
It has fart jokes, penis jokes, drug use, and more creative uses of the f-word than I've heard in a long time. There's no morally redeeming quality about this at all. But it sure is amusing to watch. And unlike "School of Rock," there's not even a warm fuzzy aspect--it's all crude.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
If there's anything that's genuinely good, it's watching Kyle Gass play some powerful licks...which is funny because he looks like a middle-aged accountant.
If you're looking for a "good" movie, there are plenty others this holiday season. But if your inner adolescent is looking to laugh until you hurl, this is the movie for you. |
