Pick this for a good laugh

Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny is not a movie I would typically run out to see, and more than likely would let pass by in the theaters. I had the opportunity to see it in a special preview so I took the chance. To my surprise I did not hate it and actually found it to be somewhat amusing. Jack Black and Kyle Gass team up to become Tenacious D, a band that has not promise. But Jack Black showcases his talents as a singer, much like he did with "School of Rock".
(Probably the only Jack Black movie I have ever liked.) For that reason, I found his character more appealing and fun than usual. Kyle Gass made a good partner as he was much more subdued. The band is on a mission to get the pick used by major popular bands of the past because it is rumored to have special powers and is made from the devil's tooth. The pick could make them fameous. This adventure is filled with so very dumb moments, and some quite humorous. Along the
way, the F-bomb is used at least every 3rd word. Therefore, this is not recommended for kids. If you like Jack Black, you will probably like this movie. It's definitely an off the wall comedy, but you should expect that just from the title. B- |
