Window into 1950's; any progress in 50 years?

This is a remarkable film. It gives you the feel of the 1950s (black and white, the music, the attire and all those cigarettes!) with a lot of moral lessons for us today.

The movie is heavy and one that is thought provoking. I suspect it won't draw an audience away from thrillers and action flics that are out there. There were kids and teenagers in the theater near me and they were bored after 15 minutes, although their reaction to black and white was interesting.

Extremely well written. Why don't we speak like that today?

An excellent intertwining of historical footage and a superb acting performance, especially by Straitharn. I'm sure he will be up for an Oscar. You actually think it is Edward R. Murrow with perhaps a touch of Peter Jennings although I am sure Jennings emulated Murrow's style. I couldn't stop thinking of the parallels with the paranoia we have today regarding terrorism. As a good friend told me once, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you!). His condemnation of television owned by corporations with self interest, big business. Fear of speaking out for fear you'll be blacklisted, looking over your shoulder before voicing a contrary opinion, etc.

Movie went by very quickly. It is about 90 minutes. Only thing I couldn't figure out was why the Robert Downey/wife sub plot was there

A strong message for ethics, morals and standing up for what is right, not necessarily popular. Kind of makes you notalgic for the 50s
