I found it very difficult to rate this movie because as a movie it was not that good. However, Johnny Depp's performance was extraordinary. In my opinion they could have taken every other actor out of this film and let Johnny do what he does best, Act! You could tell that he enjoyed every second that he was playing this horrible man. Those are the roles that he gravitates toward. The film also shows how this beautiful man loves to down play his god given looks. He started off a very handsome man and as his illness took hold of him he became very difficult to look at. Johnny loves this type role.
Like I said I did not really like this film but I loved Johnny's performance. I hope he continues to do these types of roles and well as the mainstream stuff. If you love Johnny Depp, as I do. Or if you just enjoy an excellent acting performance go see The Libertine. |
