Simply Brilliant!

First off let me say that this movie is not for everyone. Viewers will either love it or hate it. If you are expecting a pretty period piece like Pride & Prejudice (and there is nothing wrong with that) this is not your movie. If you want to get a feel for what it might have been like to be in the 17th century and are not afraid of a little profane language then this IS your movie. The cinematography is not like any movie I have ever seen—it is real. The acting is amazing. It is sad, funny in parts as well as heart wrenching. All of the actors were excellent but Johnny is just brilliant. He is in top form as Rochester and once again proves to us that he is not afraid of anything! It is impossible to leave the theatre without feeling something akin to amazement. I have seen it twice and look forward to seeing it again. I certainly hope that the eventual DVD will contain a directors cut and extras on the making of the film. |
