Just Like Heaven is a chick filck that is cheerful, funny, and lovable and very much like a Sleeping Beauty story.
Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon) has no life outside her job at the hospital. One night on her way to her sister's house, she get's hit by a semi. The next thing she knows, there is a man named David (Mark Ruffalo), a lonely man that loves to drink and sit on the couch.
David does all he can to try to get her spirit out of his new apartment. He does everything from hiring a priest to reading books about it, with the help of an expert (Napolean Dynamite's Jon Heder).
When they spend time together in the apartment, they are starting to think that David isn't fully alive either, as they have been starting to find out who she really is. They must find a way to be together.
The film's dialogue is good. The parts where Elizabeth is walking through walls are a little fuzzy. Good acting by Witherspoon, Ruffalo, and Heder (who needed a bigger part). I loved the story, also.
This film has non-sexual nudity, language, some tense scenes, and characters drink. Do not bring kids under 12.
Grade: 3 out of 4 stars for this romantic comedy. |
