Really enjoyed the movie's pace. The characters were well developed and the ironies were both obvious and subtle. I am guessing that some where in the agreement to distribute the film, it got chopped-up towards the end. I think that another half-hour would have helped in explaining the plot and characters near the hometown of Melquiades. For instance the women at the store and the Don ___ of the town probably played a bigger role in the original unedited version. This is too bad because the film could have been a true classic for TLJ in his directorial debut. I'll wait for the Director's cut to see how it all unfolds. |
