I'm only writing this review to spread how bad I think the movie was. I am pretty generous reviewer of movies in general, but this movie was a huge flop. I cannot even describe accurately enough how much this movie held nothing I would ever want to see.
Beginning of the movie, a huge gore shot, ok I can deal with that.
Shortly after that, a really graphic x, not r rated sex scene, that the whole audience laughed at with pure awkward shock at seeing it on a movie screen.
This movie felt like someone forgot to edit out certain parts. So much of it is watching people travel to locations with no dialouge. Half way through the movie I tried to take a nap because I thought that would be a more productive use of my time.
Then the movie just repeated more of the same. I felt as if it wasn't a movie somehow. I felt like I was actually watching the life of someone who had a horrible past, and had documented their own life. The camera work was utterly uninteresting and simple, sub-par.
The "movie" moved so slowly through the plot, that after the scenes the trailer of the movie alluded to happened, and were resolved, I whispered to my friend next to me, so when is the movie going to start?
The movie had so little plot. This movie was not a gem of character developement either, something you might look for if a movie lacks plot. The rate that this movie develops characters is so slow, that I could have watched another movie on a min-dvd player in front of me, finished it, then looked back at a History of Violence, and been able to understand the simplicity of what the character went through. Please tell me I am not going insane on reading all these other reviews.
God help us.
