Being born and raised up in northern Minnesota, I thought the film was well done and portrayed the mentality of SOME of the miners in the area. The mines have been one of the best paying jobs in this area and it has always been very competitive for the positions. Not all men and women had a sexist mentality and since the communities up here are close knit and problems going on in the mines affects the whole community, I wish the film would have portrayed this a little more. I think it shows how any one gender dominated workplace can harbor resentment and get hyped up at any change. The northern Minnesota accent used in the film irritates me as I think it is too dramatized and makes us sound dumb. |
