This is a very powerful movie. So is the performance of Charlize Theron who plays Josie, a woman who goes to work in the mines where her father works. He doesn't want her to work their though and thinks her past is shameful to the family. He has worked their all his life. This is a place though for guys, not for women and she goes into the job knowing this. They have to put up with horrible things as women and of course this takes place back before there were "sexual harassment" laws and is inspired by a true story. This is a very very tough film to watch because it makes you so mad. The men in this movie are more than pigs, they are dirty, filthy hogs....and even worse! Josie decides to face the company after an incident that takes her back to her childhood and crosses all boundaries. None of the other women want to go against the company though and she is willing to go at them by herself. Her lawyer is played by Woodie Harrison and he does a great job. Also stars Sissy Spacek as her mother and Richard Jenkins as her father. A powerful cast and very powerful performances. A- |
