To be honest, when I saw the first movie I was not very impressed. The acting was poor and the pace was kinda slow, yet it was gory as hell and so it was alright overall for a movie- that is, until I reached the ending. The "wow" factor was so high, so mesmerising, that I changed my mind about the whole movie entirely! My god, I thought, this is a damn good movie. And so is its sequel.
This time, though, the acting is on a higher scale, not very much, but enough to make us feel for the characters. Wahlberg is convincing and real- most of the time. The scenes are as disturbing as the original movie, if not even more disturbing. And the "wow" factor is still there, but like any sequel, nothing ever compares to a classical predecessor.
I would definitely recommend this movie, for all its subtle details and fine directing, it is $10 well spent- you will NOT leave the theater unhappy. |
