This is my first review, and since I am not a critic I am just giving honest feedback.
I gave the story a "B+" because it followed the same setup as did the first movie. The ending was didn't really catch me by surprise since I was paying attention and trying to nitpick all the little details of the movie. I liked how this movie solely focused on the killer instead of the victims, though I felt it would have been nice if they went more into detail with Jigsaw's victims like they did in the first movie.
Acting was pretty good, there wasn't really anything memorable. Still, at the very least, they did a good job playing their assigned characters.
The direction of this movie was pretty memorable, as I said earlier this movie focuses on the killer Jigsaw and how everything he does fit into play. The movie also digs deeper into the killer's mind, intentions, etc which the first movie didn't provide as much.
Visual I felt were pretty bad, they did too much of the whole "quick flashes of gory images". Although this movie was probably designed to be suspenseful, to me it is still a horror movie. So nonetheless the gore should been more visually displayed. I honestly felt like I was watching "The Ring" again in certain parts of the movie. Though I will give credit to the torture devices/situations that were shown in the movie.
Overall this movie was pretty darn good. Don't expect anything revolutionary, it wasn't designed to be absolutely great. But in all honesty you get your money's worth, just not as much as the first movie did. |
