First let me say that if you watch Saw I first before going to see this a lot more of the movie will make sense to you.
The jigsaw is up to his old tricks and this time it's once again up to the cops to try and figure him out, while a new batch of victims try to work through their own personal misgivings and escape alive!
I'm a big Saw fan and I was not disappointed! Saw was an amazingly original pscyhological thriller/horror story and here in Saw II the great writing and directing continues. The acting is not the best, but it is respectable. Sometimes you wonder what the heck the cops are thinking, and everyone and everything always seems to play along perfectly for Jigsaw. But he's a smart guy, and he's ruthless, and he's playing games - and that's what this movie is all about. There are moments of horror, fear, realization and social underpinnings which hold the story together. At times I thought I knew what was going to happen, or what was really going on, and then the story just totally shocked me! Like Saw, this one definitely has its twists and turns, as characters hide things from each other, lie, cheat and basically do whatever they can to survive.
This was a great movie and definitely worth the time and money - it's only 1 1/2 hours but like the first there isn't a moment where you want to take your eyes off the screen or aren't thinking about what could possibly happen next.
