'Diss a movie', I guess is a step up from the usual fascist 'burn the books' response to unsettling ideas. To those genuinely interested in a review of the movie by someone who has actually seen it, please read on & please take with a 'grain of salt' the reviews of D- & below contrived by the followers of the political ayatollahs.
The movie ...... Directing - outstanding (sorry Mike, I'm glad you decided to do Harry Potter; the directing of this movie was stellar). The acting - I thought Rachel acted her socks off and stole it from Ralph; then I saw the movie a second time with my daughter and was blown away by Ralph Fiennes portrayal of a self-effacing man who discovers all consuming love after he has lost it; God, if we all had that courage. The story - I was ready to be disappointed; how could you fit the scope, detail and character color into such a 2 hour movie; a very tight, well crafted screenplay that flowed and flowered. The books characters and parts that were omitted, weren't missed. And to show that there are no hard feelings towards the wingnut politicos, I sincerely hope that they get to reap the 'benefits' of the free Vioxx they've been promised. Drugs not fully tested before reaching the market; preposterous! |
