I'll dispense with the obvious negatives first. I'll gladly lay down that the acting could have been better, it could have used more time on the drawing board, it could have used more work in editing and some jokes fell a little flat but...this is all irrelevant. If Mike Judge was trying to make Lawrence of Arabia I'd be right alongside these people handing out D's and F's. It wasn't his aim though. So I'm giving it an A. Not because it hit any number of technical marks, but because it took on a touchy subject and produced an enjoyable movie.

I loved the premise. That's nine tenths of my grade. I don't care that it isn't polished. I love that it's amaturish and rough. It's a consisitant nuance that goes along with it's theme of a haphazard and universally screwed up future ruled by the reproductively prolific bottom of the barrel. People give high praises for less interesting dramas for using black and white photography to capture authenticity, but then scold Idiocracy for following the same principal. A hypocritical aftertaste to be sure.

This film is going to offend some. But people need to be offended from time to time. It keeps them honest. And staying honest let's not get distracted by this film's technical weakneses and just appreciate what it tried to do, which I believe has earned it a spot among the greatest cult classics, sleepers and vastly underrated and underappreciated flicks of all time. Some people see stupid, but perhaps have missed the punchline. Overanalyizing something can be "stupid" too. Especially if you've underestimated it to begin with and only see the one dimension you disdain. Take a step back.

If you think that it's too important that a movie must be polished and honed than I passionatly encourage you to vote my review 'Not helpful,' even if you can put all that aside and still don't feel right about giving me a favorable click. I'm not trying to "fool" anyone. This movie promotes honesty and that's how you should vote.
