As movies go it is amazing when one comes across as not a comedy or a drama. This is some feat. A problem in any story probably trying to beg understanding and acceptance from it's audience. Can a character pull all this off on a waitress wage: Treatments and surguries. The sudden cross country flight to spring a newly discovered son on the east coast. Buy a car and drive for what seemed like an eternity back to California? See long lost 'friends' along the way >> The sense of reality that is lost early on can never quite recover. The idea of a disapproving family that knows better is indeed believable, till we meet them and they are all cartoons. A resolution should not strike the audience as neither resolved nor happy. |
