Although not perfect, Transamerica was an highly enjoyable movie. Felicity Huffman was superb, her emotional range broad and convincing. My movie-going partner thought she was a male actor. Fionnula Flannagan, in the role of Bree's bloated, self-centered, painted mother was frighteningly real. The ending was soft, not making any promises but offering the viewer hope for the characters' future.
At times the movie crawled a bit, but it was worth being patient. |
