Not everyone's 'cuppa tea:This super-stylized, Adult Sci-Fi/Film Noir is reminiscent of 'Sky Captain'- but written well. The CGI/Live balance was more subtle and 'finished' in 'Ultraviolet' but the roughness and grunge really appeal here. The music is great and there are several 'homages' to previous Sci-Fi films like Blade Runner, Andrei Tarkovski's 'Picnic', and The Fifth Element. If you love Cinema, stylization and quirkiness, this dreamlike film will please you. It's kinda like a French Comic strip--which is the director's background. I liked it a LOT and will see it again. |
